To lead wisely is to cultivate from root, through growth, to fruition that which is of greatest intrinsic value.  We start with the Dance of Isadora Duncan as the model for the resurgence of the individual, the culture in which the individual lives, labors and loves and ultimately for leadership in dance’s positive repercussions in the world. Herein, we are summoning up the dance to function as a real and metaphorical deliverance to practice, understand and forge a readiness widely within our lives to breathe, move, stand and lead in our given environments.  May this call to lead come first and foremost within ourselves as self-mastery; in our marriages, families and friendships as energy and resilience; in our creative endeavors as the ability to establish and found new forms; in our work as zeal and mission; in our loves as passion and devotion; in our relationship to the natural world as protective steward; and in our vision of the future as a force for the good.

Through the dance, we will reconfigure our native abilities and past experiences for leadership in our own lives – so that we might, at last, be the hero or heroine of our own stories, not just a character in someone else’s story. The goal to see our potential anew will be accomplished at the level we bring our preparedness to the powerful medium of Duncan’s art and ideas as well as Laban’s movement and theory. We shall cultivate the art of the dance through the individual’s soul code richly constellated in the body, earlier life experiences, innate talents for movement and latent personal power with our clear intention the triumphant utilization of these leadership aptitudes across the spectrum of all of our activities.

We will encourage the leader in each of us to be: increasingly adept at Duncan technique, philosophy and choreography; a well-versed generalist, not solely an expert and specialist in one field; a support to authority not a threat to it; one who sees no separation based on rank or status; one who provides challenges, expectations, opportunities, innovation; one who removes obstacles, takes risks, unearths gifts and releases energies.

我们将鼓励会成为领导者的我们自己：逐渐熟练邓肯技术，哲学和编舞;一个广泛兴趣的精通者，而不仅仅是一个领域的专家;对权威的支持者而不是对其构成威胁的;一个对等级或地位看不到分别的人;一个提供挑战，期望，机会，创新的人;一个消除障碍，冒险，发掘天赋和释放能量的人。

In the development of leaders, Duncan’s ‘school of life’ will develop intra-personal skills of self-knowledge, physical vitality, intelligence, decision making, forcefulness, understanding, sense of achievement, confidence, flexibility, assertiveness, self-regulation and eagerness to excel.  It, also, will build inter-personal skills to make future leaders more capable of relating to all kinds of people, and communicating, perceiving, impacting, challenging, mentoring to reveal the hidden greatness in others. In every case, there will be tutelage at the level where we meet individual candidates so that newer students can join more experienced learners and experts within frames theoretical and practical, creative and therapeutic, merging art and life.

在领导力的发展中，邓肯的“生活学校”将发展自我知识，身体活力，才智，决策力，力量，理解力，成就感，自信，灵活性，果断力，自我规范和渴望超越的个人技能。同时，还将建立人际技能，使未来的领导人能够更有能力与各种人员进行交流，沟通，感知，影响，挑战，指导，以揭示他人被隐藏埋没的的伟大之处。在每一种情况下，我们会针对每个候选人的水平进行监督，以便新的学生能够在理论和实践，创造性和治疗，融合艺术和生活的框架内加入更多有经验的学者和专家。

Wewill examine the basic tenets of what it means to lead through dailyintroductory discussion, individual and group movement improvisation, stylisticdance research in action, Duncan choreography and practical leadershipexercises.  As a culminating experience,we will offer to the community Isadora Duncan and the Dancer of the Future inan informal sharing of our work on the final evening.
